Canadians struggle at the Honda Classic

It was a tough week for the Canadians at the Honda Classic at Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

Mackenzie Hughes started off the week by shooting an impressive opening round 67 which left him just one shot back of the leader on Thursday.  However,  Hughes followed that up by shooting 75 the following day and he couldn’t regain his form for the rest of the weekend.

The native of Dundas, ON finished up the Honda Classic at nine over par which was 18 shots back of the eventual winner Justin Thomas who edged out fellow American Luke List in a playoff on Sunday.

Fellow Canadian Corey Conners finished the weekend tied with Hughes at nine over par while Ben Silverman missed the cut shooting an opening round 78 which was followed by a 77 on Friday.

All eyes of course were focused on Tiger Woods who had his best performance since his return to golf. Woods was competitive all week and hovered around the top of the leaderboard and ended up finishing in 12th place and was even par for the tournament.

Next up on the PGA Tour is the Mexico Championship at Club de Golf Chapultepec in Mexico City.
